    Crú Classic Massage

Swedish massage is perhaps the most commonly known massage technique. It involves soft, long, kneading strokes on the topmost layers of the muscles with pressure varying from light to medium to firm.

The goal of Swedish massage is to relax the entire body by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of blood returning to the heart. The technique is also combined with moving the joints. Swedish massage can be relaxing, energizing and possibly help after an injury.

    Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage is beneficial for chronic aches and pains, stiff neck, sore shoulders, lower back pain and leg muscle tightness.

It focuses on realigning deeper layers of muscles and connective tissue. The massage technique is slower and the pressure deeper in order to reach the sub-layer of muscles and the fascia (the connective tissue surrounding muscles) and break down adhesions. The muscles must be relaxed so that the therapist can reach the deeper muscles.

There may be soreness, stiffness and some discomfort after a deep tissue massage but this should subside in a day or two. Your therapist may recommend using a cold pack to the afflicted area.

Studies indicate that having massage therapy during pregnancy (for normal, low-risk pregnancies) can improve circulation; relieve stress, anxiety and depression; relieve muscle aches and pains; reduce stress on weight-bearing joints; and relieve headaches, leg cramps, stiff neck and edema (swelling).

Our therapists will take care to ensure your comfort. The best position for a pregnant woman during message is side-lying with supportive cushions to alleviate any strain on the lower back and pelvic areas as the massage technique is applied. Swedish massage is the recommended prenatal massage method although other massage techniques are offered. Woman can begin massage therapy at any point during their pregnancy; the first, second or third trimester. If you are unsure whether you should have a prenatal massage, contact your doctor prior to scheduling an appointment.

Women with high-risk pregnancies are highly encouraged to consult their doctor or midwife before scheduling a massage session. Advise your therapist immediately if you feel any discomfort during your massage therapy session.

    Sports Massage

Sports massage was originally developed to help athletes recover from a sports injury and help improve their performance, promote flexibility, reduce fatigue, and improve endurance. Its' emphasis was on healing injuries to the muscles and tendons. A sports massage is a type of Swedish massage which stimulates the circulation of blood and lymph fluids. Trigger point therapy may also be used to break down adhesions (knots in the muscles) to increase range of motion.

However, you don't need to be an athlete to benefit from a sports massage. A therapist will generally concentrate on a problem area of the body that is over used or stressed from repetitive or aggressive movements; it is good for people with chronic pain and restricted motion. A sports massage is good for anyone involved in regular physical activity.

As with any type of massage you choose, talk to your therapist about your needs and expectations to find a plan and schedule that will work for you.

    Heavenly Hot Stone Massage

The Heavenly Hot stone massage is our customized full body Swedish massage which can be scheduled for 60/90/120 minutes. Our hot stone massage soothes muscles and relieves stress and tension by incorporating heated rounded stones as an extension of the therapists own hands. The heat from the stones relax the muscles allowing the massage therapist to apply deeper pressure if desired. The therapist will hold the stones first to verify the temperature will not be too hot. After the muscles have been relaxed, the therapist may put down the stones and use his or her hands to directly massage the skin.

    Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is designed to reduce or eliminate sources of pain known as trigger points, trigger sites or muscle knots. Acute trauma or micro trauma may stress muscle fibers and lead to the formation of trigger points which result in areas of persistent pain as well as limited or decreased range of motion in affected areas. These affected areas cause pain in other parts of the body. For instance, a trigger point in the back can cause pain in the neck which can then cause pain in the head, resulting in mild to severe headaches.

Trigger point therapy is designed to alleviate the source of pain using isolated pressure and release. You will be asked to participate in identifying the location and intensity of the pain as well as participating through deep breathing.

Receiving trigger point therapy on a regular basis can help manage pain and stress from chronic injuries.
